Sasha Epstein is an artist whose work reveals the grandeur and dramatism of the nature of the Russian Far East and the passion of people conquering the waves of the Sea of Japan. The artist was born in eastern Siberia in a small town near Lake Baikal. She developed her love for water since childhood. The formation of her artistic vision was shaped while studying at the Far Eastern State Institute of Arts.

“I have always lived near the water. I was born right next to Lake Baikal. When I was a teenager, I moved to Primorsky Region and fell in love with the sea. It became my main energy source. Until now, no matter where I am and no matter where I end up in the future, the Primorsky Region and the Sea of Japan will always be in my heart.” – mentions Sasha. This connection with water and the sea became not only a source of inspiration, but also the artistic foundation.

Sasha’s art is aiming at capturing moments of life on canvas. The shimmer of the ocean or the first ray of dawn - such moments are reflected in her works, urging the viewer to feel the grandeur of nature. Her heroes are athletic idealists, ready to face the nature and test their strength.

Surfing for the artist is not just a sport but an entire culture where the dynamics of the human soul and the greatness of nature intertwine in an amazing dance. It is this unique connection between the physical and spiritual, between man and nature, that becomes Sasha’s main source of inspiration and really attracts the viewer’s eye.

The artist’s works had a sensational effect at the Cosmoscow 2023 contemporary art fair. The artist’s works also became a source of inspiration for the music group Mumiy Troll: her painting became the cover of the single “Summer without the Internet”.
